Xerox bolsters line of MFPs: New colour and monochrome models use interface platform

Xerox Canada brought several new and enhanced multifunction systems to the market last month, with a focus on leveraging software applications to increase productivity.
The WorkCentre 7675 colour MFP and the WorkCentre 5600 black-and-white series are the company’s newest and fastest products, with print, copy, scan and fax capabilities. The devices use Xerox’s
extensible interface platform (EIP), based on web standards, which allows software developers to quickly create applications tailored to specific business challenges. A touch screen on the devices allows users to access document management software personalized
to their needs.
“The new WorkCentre systems combined with EIP represent a new era for the multifunction system,” said Russell Peacock, president of Xerox Office Group. “They shatter the perception that an office MFP is just a piece of hardware. These systems adapt to the way you
work—instead of the other way around.”
The WorkCentre 7675 prints and copies at speeds up to 50 pages per minute (ppm) in colour and 75 ppm in black and white.
Print resolution is up to 2400 x 2400 dpi, allowing the system to quickly and cost-efficiently produce high-end colour prints and everyday business documents, Xerox reports. It also includes tools to
manage colour costs, improve document workflow and keep documents secure.
The product is equipped with Xerox Standard Accounting software, enabling businesses to track usage, set limits for users and manage costs.
Xerox is expanding its line of black-and-white multifunction systems with six new WorkCentre 5600 products. With speeds ranging from 32 ppm to 87 ppm and total paper capacity of up to 8,700 sheets, the systems can handle anything from general office documents to high-volume print jobs, Xerox reports.
Office workers can also store frequently printed documents, such as forms or templates, directly on the device and modify the settings before printing, eliminating trips to and from the computer to MFP.
The WorkCentre 5600 also offers expanded finishing options for models that operate at 55 ppm and above, including post-process sheet insertion. Scan-enabled models are able to create searchable PDF and XPS files.
Pricing for the WorkCentre 7675 begins at $39,995. The 5600 series starts at $10,820. All the devices meet the US Environmental Protection Agency’s new Energy Star requirements. os
