Lexmark speeds warm-up time

Mississauga, Ont.—Though buyers and vendors of office equipment often focus exclusively on page per minute (ppm), the amount of time required for the device to warm up and output the first page is just as important to productivity, according to the experts.
That’s why Lexmark launched a new monochrome laser printer series in the fall of last year, combining breakthrough printhead technology, and instant warmup fuser, along with two-sided printing to boost productivity and cut costs and waste.
The E-series incorporates more than 40 new patents to make the printers faster, more reliable and energy efficient, Lexmark reports. The devices also feature a new quiet mode, making them one of the quietest laser printers in the industry.
The new printhead technology is comprised of a miniature pivoting mirror to reduce moving parts and increase reliability. The instant warm-up fuser ensures the printer is always ready to yield the first print in as fast as 6.5 seconds, even from sleep mode. The new models all support the Microsoft Vista platform.
The series includes the E250d, which prints at speeds up to 30 ppm and is billed as the lowest-priced laser printer with two-sided printing in the industry, at $229. Customers wishing to share the device between multiple users may opt for the E250dn (with networking) capability for $279.
The Lexmark E350d has an LCD display, and the fastest rated print speed in its class—up to 35 ppm. The price is $379. It also has the highest yield cartridge option in its class, with a 9,000 page aftermarket toner cartridge. For workgroups, the Lexmark E352dn includes networking, and is available for $479. os
