Fort McMurray Business Associates Day
The Fort McMurray District holds its annual Business Associates Day Oct. 27-28 in Fort McMurray. This event, which brings vendors and buyers together in a non-formal environment, has been a highlight for almost a quarter of a century.
Event Co-Chair Ernie Hilland says last years event drew 441 participants from as far away as Great Britain and the southern U.S. This is a must-do event for our members and for a great many others in the profession. Because theyre meeting outside the normal, more formal course of business, the Business Associates Day enables buyers and vendors to get to know one another on a more personal level. This is good for our members, the companies they work for and the vendors we deal with as professionals.
The event kicks off with a casino night (just play money, honest) on Oct. 27. The next day starts with a breakfast keynote from newly appointed Syncrude Canada CEO Charles F. Ruigrok, who will discuss new initiatives for Syncrude and how these will affect the companys supply chain.
The rest of the day features five additional speakers and Open Houses by corporate participants including Syncrude, Shell Canada, Suncor Energy, TransAlta and ConocoPhillips.
