Frasers announces new search engine
Toronto—Frasers.com has announced a new industrial search engine, to help purchasers be more specific in their sourcing of products and services.
Called the Canadian Industrial Web, the search engine focuses on the web sites of Canadian industrial companies only. The results are more relevant to buyers than those of general search engines, according to Frasers.
"To a purchaser of industrial supplies, "brad" might mean a type of nail or drill, or a model of control connector. Unfortunately, to a general search engine like Yahoo or Google, "brad" is a type of Hollywood actor," according to a Frasers press release. "Consumer and entertainment web site hits makes it hard to use the Internet to source industrial supplies and services."
The search engine crawls and filters through 20,000 companies and presents the findings in order of relevancy. It also deep-links to the supplier's web site.
"Deep linking will let users search for specific items, like part numbers and brand names, and find them deep inside web sites, with no consumer or entertainment listings," said Gloria Gallagher, the site's publisher.
The URL for the search engine is www.frasers.com/industrialsearch.cfm
