SCOR developers enhance education
Washington—The Supply-Chain Council (SCC), owner of the widely-used SCOR model, is launching several new global programs to better educate and certify practitioners.
The new programs were designed after the SCC noticed a lack of supply chain knowledge among manufacturing companies. It cited AMR Research showing 52 per cent of global manufacturing companies have less than two years of experience in supply chain management.
Its latest educational efforts include a new Supply-Chain Council University, which features six new courses with a planned roll-out of a certification program. The university will administer the training courses worldwide.
The courses were piloted in November 2006, and became available for enrollment in January 2007. They include a completely revised introduction to the concepts of supply chain design, measurement and management from a SCOR perspective; metrics and benchmarking.
An additional course covers SCOR 8.0 implementation, focusing on detailed execution of a top-down, SCOR-based supply chain transformation program. SCC is also offering training on team-building, converging SCOR with Six Sigma and lean concepts, design-chain and performance-based logistics.
