Performance metrics for logistics
Toronto—Supply Chain & Logistics Canada (SCL), a national association with members from all aspects of the supply chain, is gearing up for a series of fall symposia on supplier metrics.
The symposia will present the findings of two studies conducted by SCL for Industry Canada and Transport Canada. The research for Industry Canada explored benchmarking tools in logistics, taking into account regional differences. It covered trends and market indicators, and examined the rate of outsourcing by key sectors, and the impact of technology.
The second study, completed for Transport Canada, identified what factors companies take into account when purchasing transportation services. It also investigated how buyers of transportation were influenced by environmental concerns.
The study found purchasers who included 'green' considerations into their buying decisions made a positive impact on the environment, and were also able to contain costs and improve their brand image. The symposia will provide SCL with the opportunity to share the findings of the two reports.
The events are scheduled throughout October and November in Moncton, Toronto, Calgary, Vancouver and Montreal.
