Comtrex outsources logistics
Toronto—Comtrex has signed a logistics outsourcing agreement with Livingston International Inc., for the provision of warehousing, customs clearance, transportation, freight forwarding, trade compliance and supply chain management IT.
According to Comtrex—a manufacturer of radio, cellular, safety and protection equipment with distribution facilities in Niagara Falls, NY and Toronto—the company has grown too big to handle its own logistics.
"We searched long and hard for a complete end-to-end solution. All past proposals came up short, whether it was the insurance considerations of our high value product line or the complexities of our inbound US operations from over 50 waypoints," said Patrick Armstrong, managing director of Comtrex Communications Ltd.
The company settled on Livingston recently, which will take over Comtrex's US warehousing, distribution and cross-docking operations currently housed in Niagara Falls, NY and move it to secure warehousing facility in Tonawanda, NY.
All of Comtrex’s Canadian stock will move from Toronto to Livingston's 315,000 square-foot facility in Oakville, Ont.—the same facility used by Gillette, Braun and Duracell.
