Descartes targets cross-border shipping
Waterloo, Ont.—Logistics software and services company The Descartes Systems Group Inc. is teaming up with industry veteran Sandra Scott to help customers expedite cross-border shipments and comply with electronic filing requirements of customs agencies.
The company is aiming to build relationships with customs agencies and trade associations by leveraging Scott's reputation in the logistics community. The end goal for Descartes customers should be easier compliance with regulations affecting shipment tracking, and overall border security processes, Descartes reports.
Scott has more than 35 years of transportation industry experience, and has led trade and government groups. She's worked with companies such as Roadway Express Inc. where she helped penetrate international markets; and YRC Worldwide Inc. where she spearheaded customs automation efforts throughout North America.
Scott is president and CEO of a California-based company that offers consulting services to cross-border and international trade and transportation service providers.
"She's been relentless in her efforts to improve the border process," said Oryst Dydynsky, vice-president of cross-border and regulatory affairs at Descartes.
Based in Waterloo, Ont., Descartes supplies logistics software services to customers such as ground carriers, airliners and third-party logistics providers.
