Sharp Electronics wins awards:
BERTL recognition for multifunctional printers

Mississauga, Ont.—Sharp Electronics of Canada has announced its MX series of multifunctional printers (MFPs) has won a sweep of BERTL and BLI (Buyers Lab) awards after topping their class in each category.
The awards—announced at the AIIM/On Demand show in May—recognized the MX4501N colour MFP, which outputs 40 to 49 pages per minute (ppm); the MX3501N (30 to 39 ppm); the MX2700N (20 to 29 ppm); and the MX2300N (20 to 29 ppm).
According to Sharp, every product offered in the MX series received a BERTL award. At the same time, the MFPs were tested by BLI. At press time, BLI had completed testing on three out of four products and had presented Sharp with the BLI Pick of the Year Awards Spring 2006 for the series.
The MX2700N and MX2300N have a "robust document filing system" with 20 GB storage capacity. Paper capacity is up to 5,600 sheets. The image stabilization feature provides high quality results consistently, according to Sharp. The MFP also has easy to view controls on a large touch-screen display.
The MX2300N and MX2700N were designed to offer the features of a robust black and white MFP, along with cost-effective colour, Sharp reports. They're targeted at users who want to produce professional colour documents in-house, "while also watching the bottom line."
The advanced management tools make it easier to control colour usage and costs, and they also provide simpler integration with the user's IT Infrastructure. The built-in security suite ensures the MFP and documents are protected.
The other two MFPs—the MX4501N and 3501N are workgroup colour document systems. They copy, print, scan, fax, e-mail and store files with efficiency, according to Sharp.
The 4501N has a network-ready PCL6/PCL5c printing system with direct print function and available PS3 emulation. Storage capacity is 30 GB, while paper capacity is up to 3,500 sheets. It also has an environmentally-friendly design, with low-power consumption and longer life parts and supplies, the company reports.
The BERTL awards recognize individual devices, software, utilities, and entire product lines that stand apart in their class.
