Toronto--The Canadian built Honda Civic Sedan and Honda Ridgeline pickup truck were voted as the 2006 Car of the Year and Truck of the Year by the Automobile Journalists Association of Canada (AJAC).
The awards were celebrated at the automaker's plant in Alliston, Ont., where the vehicles are built. The plant employs 4,300 people.
AJAC is an association of automotive journalists, which rigorously test, evaluate and report on vehicles.
The two awards are contributing to an unprecedented year of wins for Honda. The Civic was named Motor Trend's 2006 Car of the Year. The Ridgeline won the same distinction in the truck category.
AJAC also voted for the Honda Civic Si Coupe for best new sports car, and the Honda Civic Hybrid as best new alternative power vehicle. The Hybrid has an estimated fuel economy rating of 4.7 litres per 100 km (city) and 4.3 litres (highway).
