Nortel appoints chief procurement officer

Toronto—John Haydon has been appointed chief procurement officer at Nortel. A long-time Nortel employee, Haydon will relocate to Hong Kong, and will have responsibility for approximately US$7 billion in annual purchases. He will also oversee all supplier relationships.
Haydon has more than 22 years of international experience, having held various senior management positions at Nortel, in manufacturing, field operations, customer service, sales and marketing, and supply management. Most recently, he served as Nortel’s vice-president for global supply chain.
“This appointment is about creating a world-class sourcing organization for Nortel,” said Joel Hackney, senior vice-president of global supply chain and quality, who Haydon reports to. “John is a recognized leader and innovator who has brought new levels of collaboration and discipline to supplier selection and management at Nortel.”
The appointment was effective February 13.
