NRCan announces fuel-efficient winners

Ottawa—The Office of Energy Efficiency of Natural Resources Canada recently identified the most fuel-efficient vehicles for model year 2006.
The results are derived from data provided by the vehicle manufacturers and verified by Transport Canada. Light-duty vehicles are tested in labs, on simulated highway and city driving conditions.
The EnerGuide award winners for 2006 include:

Two-seater: Honda Insight 3.9 litres 3.3 litres
Subcompact: Volkswagen New Beetle 6.2 litres 4.6 litres
Subcompact: Toyota Yaris 6.9 litres 5.5 litres
Compact: Honda Civic Hybrid 4.7 litres 4.3 litres
Mid-size: Toyota Prius 4.0 litres 4.2 litres
Full-size: Hyundai Sonata 9.6 litres 6.3 litres
Station wagon: Volkswagen Jetta TDI
Diesel Wagon 6.2 litres 4.6 litres
Station wagon: Pontiac Vibe 7.9 litres 5.9 litres
Station wagon: Toyota Matrix 7.9 litres 5.9 litres
Pickup truck: Ford Ranger 9.9 litres 7.3 litres
