Saskatchewan Institute launches www.si.pmac.ca
On Wednesday, April 28, the Saskatchewan Institute of the Purchasing Management Association of Canada (PMAC) launched its new Web site. It can be found at www.si.pmac.ca. This site has been designed as a resource for PMAC members, and for all students and supply management professionals in the province of Saskatchewan. The launch is part of a Canada-wide initiative to enhance Internet communications delivery for provincial and territorial Institutes. The new site has been designed to offer information on Institute and District events, courses and seminars offered in Saskatchewan, detailed information on the Certified Professional Purchaser (C.P.P.) program, and links to other resources of interest to anyone in the supply-management field.
The new venue uses a template which enhances access of information from both the Institute and National Web sites by providing clear direction for the visitor and a common look between the two Web sites.
"This represents a significant step forward for our Institute," says Mark Grosse, C.P.P., of the City of Regina and Saskatchewan Institute President. "We've laid the foundation for an impressive expansion of information services, including an upcoming online Institute Newsletter."
Development of the site was a joint Institute-National endeavour, headed by Dale Webb, Executive Director, Saskatchewan Institute, and Rob Van Kruistum, PMAC Print and Communications Specialist.
Says Webb: "This new site greatly enhances our ability to provide information to Saskatchewan members and to anyone across the country interested in our Institute initiatives."
Second SCM Symposium set for September 30
The Second Annual Symposium on Supply Chain Management, jointly sponsored by the Purchasing Management Association of Canada (PMAC), McMaster eBusiness Research Centre (MeRC) and the Ontario Research Network for Electronic Commerce (ORNEC), will run September 30 and October 1, 2004.
As we went to press, supply-management practitioners and academics in the field of supply chain management (SCM) were being contacted for their interest in contributing to this year's two-day program of presentations and keynote addresses. "Building on the success of last year's Symposium, McMaster and PMAC are making a concerted effort to call for a wide range of presentations from practitioners," says Bob Dye, President of PMAC. "We are encouraged by the initial response. The Symposium is a great forum for business people and academics to share new findings and best practices, and this year's event promises a strong program based not only in research but also in the proving grounds of business application."
With the theme "From Theory to Practice," the Symposium, to be held at the Wyndham Bristol Place Hotel & Conference Centre in Mississauga, Ontario, will offer an array of presentations related to the topic streams of Best Practices and Innovative Solutions; Technological Advances; and Future Supply Management Directions. Topics could include, but would not be confined to, Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technologies and applications; SCM outsourcing; e-business on demand; cross-channel management issues; buyer-supplier strategic alliances; SCM intelligent agents; on-line alternative dispute resolution (ADR); electronic contracting; intellectual property issues; globalization; and future trends in supply management.
At the Symposium, awards will be presented to the Best Practitioner Presentation and Best Academic Paper. Top academic papers will be considered for a special issue of a refereed journal.
For details about the program, or about the process of submitting abstracts and, ultimately, presentations, please go to the PMAC Web site, www.pmac.ca, and click on "Call for Presentations," or go directly to: http://merc.mcmaster.ca/symposium/SCMSymposium2004.html
