Creaform releases ‘hyper-realistic’ VIUscan 3D colour scanner

August 14, 2008

Lévis, Que.-based Creaform, a developer and manufacturer of handheld and self-positioning laser scanners, has introduced what it calls its most innovative product: the VIUscan, a self-positioning handheld and high resolution portable 3D colour scanner.

The VIUscan color laser scanner can achieve hyper-realistic results thanks to features such as simultaneous texture and geometry acquisition, real-time rendering, true colour acquisition through a built-in lighting system, adjustable uniform texture resolution and automatic 100 percent-accurate texture mapping.

Like its fellow scanners from the Handyscan 3D line-up, the company says it’s an accurate, easy-to-learn and use device.

“This new color 3D scanner gives us the opportunity to reach new markets, and the possibilities for innovation are endless,” said Charles Mony, president of Creaform.

Creaform products cover a range of 3D needs: 3D scanning, reverse engineering, inspection, styling, design & analysis, digital manufacturing and medical applications. Its services are intended for companies from the automotive, aerospace, biomechanics, consumer products, education, heritage preservation & architecture, and multimedia industries, among others.
