Dow Corning has introduced SHP 50 Hydrophobic Powder and 1-6184 Water Soluble Siloxane.
Jennifer Middleton, Building Materials Protection marketer for Dow Corning, says the products offer new levels and methods of building materials protection for construction materials. They maintain durability when exposed to varying degrees of environmental deterioration. Dow Corning 1-6184 Siloxane cures to form a water-insoluble, water-repellent treatment within 24 hours of application, producing maximum penetration depth and remaining stable for up to one year. This makes it ideal for application on aged masonry. Dow Corning SHP 50 is a free flowing-powder designed to disperse easily and impart hydrophobicity to cementitious dry-mix powder applications. The powder forms a barrier to capillary movement of liquid water in grouts, joint fillers, mortar, EIFS, stucco, and facade-rendering applications.
