SEI Chemical has released a new, water-soluble powder containing vapor corrosion inhibitors called CPT 500 Corrosion Proof Powder. According to the company, the product provides optimal long-term (up to 5-7 years) wet or dry corrosion protection. It is suitable for protecting all ferrous and non-ferrous metals exposed to harsh environments, including high humidity and salt water. It can be used as an additive or end user product, says SEI. The compound is attracted to metals and the product penetrates liquids, brines and other contaminants to find metal and bond to it. The product can also get to recessed surfaces to provide protection to inaccessible areas. Suggested applications include dispersing the dry powder into voids, cavities, tanks, internal surfaces of compressors, turbines and engines. It can also be used as a hydro-test additive for tubing, pipes and vessels or as an additive in water blasting.
