Film modifier for low-VOC architectural systems
December 2, 2008 |
Tego Coatings Additives & Specialty Resins has introduced TEGO HuMax 7007, a film modifier designed to reduce the need for coalescent agents and glycols in low-VOC architectural flat to gloss formulations. According to Tego, HuMax 7007 aids in film formation by modifying the paint film while maintaining water resistance, and is effective in improving scrub resistance.
The product is compatible with a number of commercially available resins used in low-VOC architectural systems including acrylic, vinyl acrylic and vinyl acetate-ethylene emulsions. HuMax is a 10 per cent active copolymer that improves the gloss of acrylic formulations an increases open times of some systems, enhancing touch-up properties and contributing to freeze-thaw stability, says the company.
