TQC’S wet film paint thickness gauges have been improved to meet the requirements of the new IMO PSPC (Performance Standard for Protective Coatings). Dry film thickness is an important issue in the PSPC. To meet the specifications for the dry film thickness it is essential to measure the wet film thickness during the application of the different coatings.
To assure sufficient coating thickness on steel edges PSPC describes in the section of “Secondary Surface Preparation” that edges shall be rounded to a radius of minimum 2mm.
The new TQC WG2 wet film thickness gauge is a high grade stainless steel wet film thickness comb according ASTM D 4414-A / ISO 2808-7B. It has a range up to 2000 micron to measure wet film thickness divided over six sides. Also a template with a 2 mm radius is integrated to check the roundness of edges.
