White knocks off silver as most popular car colour in North America
|

Silver is no longer the undisputed colour champion of the automotive world, according to the DuPont 2007 Global Automotive Color Popularity Report. After seven years in first place, silver was replaced by white/white pearl as the top colour choice for vehicles in the US, Canada, Mexico and Japan. Silver is still popular along with black/black effect, according to the report issued by DuPont's Automotive Systems business.

DuPont has tracked colour statistics for more than 55 years and reports converging trends in colour preference. This year, DuPont sees white/white pearl as a trend-shifting colour, and anticipates the new black metallic and other colour effects will show an increase in popularity over time. Red also continues to gain ground and is ensuring a more vividly coloured outlook in all segments, says the company.
