  • EskoArtwork acquired Gradual Software, developer of desktop automation solutions for publishing. Gradual will be merged into Esko's Enfocus operations. Peter Camps, founder of Gradual and also founder of Enfocus, joins the EskoArtwork management team and will lead Enfocus.
  • U.S. International Trade Commission is investigating patent infringement claims by Presstek, Inc. against Israeli printing plate manufacturer VIM Technologies, Ltd. and its manufacturing partner Hanita Coatings RCA, Ltd. Presstek also sued three U.S.-based distributors of VIM products and one Canadian based distributor, AteCe Canada.  Presstek is seeking, among other things, an Order from the ITC forbidding the importation and sale of the VIM printing plates in the U.S.
  • WSI (We Simplify the Internet) an internet marketing and consulting solution initiative that offers services though a network of service providers, is targeting the printing community as a viable source for expanding its network.   • DuPont Packaging Graphics has announced a price increase in the U.S and Canada, for all DuPont Cyrel products. The increases range from three percent to eight percent epending on the product.  
  • Sweden-based Trelleborg Engineered Systems is set to
    acquire MacDermid Offset Printing Blankets, based in Colorado.
  • Cascades Fine Papers Group, in association with VEX
    Emotions and Ultra Ink, has launched Olfaprint fragrance paper, a patented
    technology that allows scent to be integrated into paper.
  • ND Graphics, national distributor of products for large format printing, is moving into a new, larger, location in Toronto

  • Dynagram has released DynaStrip JDF Import edition, for printers with an MIS system looking for broader JDF connectivity.
  • Flint Group has created a new global business unit Flint Group Flexographic Products, combining the Flint Group Printing Plates with the rotec sleeve business, which was part of the Day International acquisition last year.
  • XSYS Print Solutions, a division of Flint Group, has changed its name to Flint Group Narrow Web (the narrow web ink maker was previously Akzo Nobel group, then ANI)
  • Kohl & Madden has launched its Earth series of a low VOC sheetfed inks made with high levels of renewable materials such as linseed, soybean and other vegetable oils.
  • MetalFX Technology has begun certifying pressroom trainers and has launched a Web training program for graphic designers available at no charge.
  • CS Laboratories in Chicago is offering a free trial size sample of its new environmentally-safe Yellow Magic UV and water-based ink and coatings cleaner. The product can be used as a cleaner for flexo UV and water based inks, UV coatings and varnishes. www.yellowmagiccleaner.com
