Canadians Score at Benny Awards

Considered by many to be the most prized print quality awards in the world, the annual Premier Print Awards presented by the Printing Industries of America (PIA/GATF) have recognized seven Canadian companies with the coveted Benjamin Franklin "Benny" trophy for Best of Category awards.


Of 99 possible categories, Canadians are taking home 14 awards, with Toronto's C.J. Graphics as the most decorated Canadian outfit adding four more Benny awards to its collection.


The Canadian Benny winners for 2008 include: C.J. Graphics of Toronto with four; Colour Innovations of Toronto takes one; Friesens Corp. of Altona, Manitoba claims two; Hemlock Printers of Burnaby, B.C. wins three; Metropolitan Fine Printers of Vancouver takes two; Rhino Print Solutions of Richmond, B.C. wins one; and The Data Group of Companies, based in Brampton, Ontario claims one.


According to the PIA/GATF, the Association received over four-thousand entries this year. Other awards presented include Awards of Recognition and Certificate of Merit. Other Canadian companies recognized in these divisions (excluding the Benny winners) include: Acuity of Richmond Hill, Ontario; General Printers of Oshawa, Ontario; Grafikom LP of Toronto; Harmony Printing in Toronto; and The Lowe-Martin Group of Ottawa.


Best of Category winners will receive their Benny Awards at the Premier Print Awards Gala in Chicago October 26.
