  • German press manufacturer Heidelberg has announced streamlining strategies to counter rising costs. Over the next two years the company plans to shed around 500 jobs worldwide and reduce its R&D spend by 10 percent, to represent less than five percent of total sales. It is also expanding its production plants in China and Slovakia and transferring some small-format press production to the U.S.
  • xpedx Canada has received chain-of-custody certifications from the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC), the Programme for the Endorsement of Forest Certification (PEFC) and the Sustainable Forestry Initiative (SFI). The certifications apply to the company’s distribution centre in Brampton and the two xpedx Paper & Graphics retail locations in Brampton and Markham, Ontario.
