Web Press Hourly Costs
The National Association for Printing Leadership (NAPL) has released its latest costing report, the 2008 Budgeted Hourly Cost Studies for Web Press Operations. A copy of either the printed book or CS InterACT, an interactive software program using the data, is available free to NAPL members.
The study includes heatset and non-heatset webs, business forms, direct mail, general commercial, newspaper/publication, digital imaging, flexographic, and letterpress equipment, along with a category for digital wide-format printers. The specifications and pricing data is derived from survey data provided by 26 participating manufacturers/exclusive distributors.

Transactional Printing In 2012
A new study of the North American transactional printing market space in has been published by INTERQUEST. Based on interviews with 50 transactional print providers, the study analyzes market size and forecasts conditions through 2012, with an eye on promotional transactional ("transpromo") printing, inkjet's impact on the market and further developments in hardware and software. Although many respondents report flat or declining black-and-white volume, highlight and full-colour transactional volume is poised to account for more than a quarter of all transactional impressions in North America by 2012.
