- Ricoh is acquiring U.S.-based IKON Office Solutions for $1.6 billion, a move that will strengthen its sales and support channels in Canada, the U.S. and Western Europe.
- Catalyst Paper, based in Richmond, B.C., is halting production of a paper machine at its Crofton, Division for 30 days, beginning September 14, removing approximately 11,000 tonnes of paper production due to reduced paper demand in the U.S.
- DuPont Packaging Graphics will implement surcharges and price increases of up to 10 percent globally effective Sept. 15. The increases, affecting flexographic printing plates, are attributed to the rising price of oil-based feedstocks, energy, freight costs, as well as the tight supply of thermoplastic elastomers�a key raw material in flexographic plates.
- Domino Printing Sciences has acquired 95% of APS (Alternative Printing Services GmbH) based in Herrenberg, Germany, a developer and manufacturer of thermal inkjet printers.
- Goss International and manroland have resolved patent infringement litigation in the United States initiated in 2003 involving three U.S. patents held by Goss International regarding web offset press sleeve blanket technology.
