Seimens Energy & Automation Inc. has launched its SINUMERIK solution line CNC system platform. The new solution line is comprised of the panel-based SINUMERIK 802D sl, the PC-based SINUMERIK 840Di sl and the flagship SINUMERIK 840D sl with panel and PC-based versions.

The network-centric architecture of SINUMERIK solution line can be combined with SINAMICS, the new drive technology from Siemens, to design stand-alone as well as plant-wide automation solutions. Additionally, PROFINET, the standard industrial Ethernet, and PROFIBUS protocols are used for machine tool communication. Machines can be networked through the corresponding interfaces on the operator panel and the CNC system.

SINUMERIK solution line offers users an open system architecture (HMI / NC Kernel), advanced communication protocols, space-saving modular design and scalable hardware and software options. This approach allows the design of control and operating concepts to be tailored to the requirements of individual technologies and applications. For the first time, "thin client technology" offers new, flexible operator concepts. These maintenance-free operator panels work without a hard disk, battery or fan. The drives communications system, called “DRIVE-CLiQ”, provides fast recognition of drives and motors via the electronic type plate and improved diagnostics.
