Machine Tools/Rotary Table
|

Hardinge's new GD210LP low-profile rotary table provides rigidity, speed, accuracy and repeatability in an affordable package, claims the company. High stiffness and rigidity are accomplished with large diameter bearings and a fail-safe clamp system allowing part weight of up to 220 lb. Radial load testing has indicated a stiffness of four times greater than a competitive model, according to Hardinge. The GD210LP uses up to 233ft-lb/ 315Nm of clamping torque to handle off-centre drilling, cross axis milling and other high force cutting applications. A fast clamp and release in milliseconds reduces cycle time . Hardinge's hardened and ground steel cross axis helical gear provides much longer life and continued accuracy when compared to softer gears and worm gears found in other models, claims the company.

The rotary table has a 210 mm slotted face plate that is precision ground on a Kellenberger grinding machine and features rapid table rotation of up to 40 rpm. The face plate can be removed to mount a manual jaw chuck directly to the A2-5 spindle for ease of gripping round parts. The rotary table can be operated as a standalone unit (horizontal or vertical) with a servo control, or as a true 4 th axis direct connected to the machine. The low-profile footprint takes up minimal space on the table allowing vises or other fixtures to remain in place for other jobs reducing setup and teardown.

Hardinge guarantees ±15 arc-sec accuracy and ±3 arc-sec repeatability based on true bidirectional testing. Double eccentrics design (not single) provide for the finest possible gear mesh from the factory. Customers can perform future gear wear compensation for extended life and improved accuracy over time. Units will be available for delivery in December 2008.
