Haas expands presence in India

Haas Automation, Inc., Oxnard, CA, has opened two new Haas Factory Outlets (HFOs) in India to meet demands of the country's booming manufacturing economy. In the past decade, global economic changes and developments in technology have stoked the fires of Indian industry and increased the demand for machine tools. The two new facilities are located in in Bihwadi (near Delhi) and Ahmedabad. The two new facilities bring the number of HFOs to four, with a fifth scheduled to open in Chennai around June.
Justin Quan, Haas business manager for Asia, says that the Indian economy is strong. It already has the largest forging facility in the world, he says, add that "Indian airlines are going global, and Tata Motors recently acquired Jaguar and Land Rover." The shift from a labour-intensive type of production to high tech CNC machine tools is one of the great drivers of Indian industry.
"India has about 8 to 9 percent growth in GDP each year," Quan continues, "and this year should be no different. The HFO network grows with India's industrial revolution."
The company sold 549 machine tools in India last year, and expects to sell more than 700 in 2008. By 2010, sales of Haas machines in India are expected to exceed 2,000 annually.
Haas Factory Outlets are locally owned and operated machine tool distributors dedicated exclusively to the Haas product line. All HFOs have demonstration areas equipped with the latest Haas machine tools, spare parts inventories, sales, service and applications engineers; service vehicles and facilities for customer training.
All Haas products are built in Haas Automation's 1 million sq ft manufacturing facility in Southern California, and distributed through a worldwide network of Haas Factory Outlets (HFOs).
